Things to watch out for: If you take this advice to the extreme, you can ignore your intuition about people or your common sense about someone`s behavior that harms you personally. It can also open you up to manipulation if you train yourself to believe someone`s explanation for negative behavior instead of judging the behavior alone. An example in action could be, for example, not believing that you are being cheated on if your partner shows unpredictable behavior and the classic signs of infidelity, but he or she fiercely denies the faults. The third agreement describes the question of whether assumptions are made, how they lead to suffering, and why individuals should not participate in it. Assuming what others think, it can cause stressful and interpersonal conflicts, because the person believes that their acceptance is a representation of the truth. Ruiz believes that one solution to overcome the act of acceptance is to ask questions and ensure that communication between those involved is clear. Individuals can avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama by not making assumptions. If we share this truth, because we know that we are dreaming and that it is our reality and our reality alone that provokes this emotional reaction – I believe it is beyond reproach. No guilt, no expectation of change or repair, just information from me to you about my experience. In the first part of this 2-part video, we learn more about the « domestication » of man and how all the rules and values of our family and society are imposed on us by a system of punishment and reward.
As little children, it is our true nature to love and be happy, to explore and enjoy life; We are absolutely authentic. But then we learn to be what others think we should be, and because it`s not normal for us to be what we are, we start pretending to be what we aren`t. When we are teenagers, we have learned to judge ourselves, to punish ourselves and to reward ourselves according to agreements we have never chosen. The four agreements help us break self-limiting agreements and replace them with agreements that bring us freedom, happiness and love. Feelings are good, opinions are good, but there are absolutes that are determined by cause and effect. It doesn`t matter if you succeed Don, Jesus or Newton – when you touch a hot oven, you`ll be burned, no matter how you feel. (3) Find what really brings you joy and do it – follow your happiness Finally, I think it`s important to know if your own chords lead to the consequences you`d like to see. Do Don`s teachings really suggest that there is no right or wrong, we just do what makes us happy? While the chords are sometimes oversimplified, it`s still a big little book with a few heavy ideas. Focusing on one of these agreements can significantly improve your life and reduce stress. Focusing on all four can really change the lives of many people. While these suggestions are usually followed and not fanatically, they can help you reduce a large amount of stress by helping you avoid patterns of thought and behavior that cause frustration, blame, hurt feelings, and other negative emotions.
What it implies is that it is about understanding how the behavior of others is only a reflection of them. If someone gives us feedback about our behavior or about us as human beings, it`s important to remember that no opinion is truly objective. We all have our prejudices, our filters through which we look at the world. In this case, we should not consider that the opinion of others about ourselves or our actions is not quite correct. When someone says something about us, they really say something about themselves and how they win the world. If your convictions create deep happiness in you, then I say: keep them. If they cause trouble, if the convictions of others are different, consciousness can give you the choice of what you believe and what you let go. . . .
